About the University of Tripoli
The first university in Libya was established by a royal decree on December 15, 1955 under the name of “University of Libya”. It began with the Colleges of Arts and Education in Benghazi. In 1957, the Faculty of Science was established in Tripoli. This formed the inception of the University of Tripoli. Then, the Faculty of Agriculture was birthed in 1966. However, before that the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) created the Higher Technical Studies Faculty, which later was annexed to the University of Libya in 1967 under the name of Faculty of Engineering. In 1973, the University of Libya split into University of Benghazi and University of Tripoli. In 1976, its name was changed to Al-Fateh University. In 2009, the Medical colleges were separated to become “Al-Fateh University for Medical Sciences”. This lasted one year as in 2010 the medical colleges were coupled together back to University of Al-Fateh. In 2012 the university regained its original name as the University of Tripoli. Faculties were constantly established at the University of Tripoli to reach 20 colleges.

Wednesday 10/2/2021, the Chairman of General Authority of Culture, Hassan Onis, visited the University of Tripoli and met with Dr. Al-Mabrouk Faris, the Vice President of Scientific Affairs - the Designated President of the University, the Vice President of Community Service, Prof. Faidi Al-Murabit and Director of the Media Office, Haitham Al-Ratimi. Onis offered his deepest condolences and sympathy to the President of the University of Tripoli, Prof. Nabil Enattah, on the death of his mother. This visit comes within the framework of the Authority's support for the University to encourage cultural activities within the University. This is the first step to initiate cooperation between the General Authority of Culture and the University of Tripoli. For his part, Prof. Faris affirmed that the University will devote the largest space to community culture, and that its doors will be open to creativity, explaining that the cultural role of universities is important to carry out their basic tasks in the service of the country and University students.View Details
Thursday, February 14, the President of the University of Tripoli, Prof. Nabil Enattah, accompanied with the Vice President of Community Service, Prof. Faidi Al-Murabit, and the Secretary General of the University of Tripoli, Tawfiq Kamuka, met with the Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation, Dr. Milad Al-Mahdi, in the presence of the Ministry’s advisor, Abdullah Al-Nwaisry, and Director of the Information Office, Rabi'a Ammar.Prof. Enattah began by extending his thanks and gratitude for the warm reception and then opened the discussion by touching on the rapid and advanced development in all areas of technology, especially in the field of informatics and the Internet. He stated that the University of Tripoli finds itself required to follow these developments, and is keen to follow up them in order to spread awareness of administrative, banking, legal and technical sciences. Enattah stressed the importance of developing awareness about educating, training and qualifying Libyan cadres in line with the great development in the areas of technology. The two parties agreed to cooperate and train all those interested in those areas. They agreed to provide scientific support and assistance to institutions and individuals. They would also work on organizing and holding training activities for employees, teaching assistants and faculty members (courses - seminars - workshops - conferences) in the legal, economic, administrative, technical and media aspects, human resource development and medical engineering fields. The two parties will participate in preparing the scientific materials. The Research and Studies Center at the University Tripoli will do this in cooperation with training experts at the Ministry of Labor and Rehabilitation.View Details
The Scientific Council of the University of Tripoli convenes 2nd meeting in 2021 in the presence of the President of the University, Prof. Nabil Enattah, and all members of the distinguished University Council. Members of the Council went through of the items of the agenda, approving the minutes of the 1st meeting in 2021, and discussing the proposal of Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences to rename some gyms, halls and classrooms with the names of faculty members. They also discussed the proposal of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Media with regard to developing the Unit of Interior Design in the Faculty to become a Department. The Faculties’ capacity of registering new students for the academic year 2020/2021 has also been on the agenda of the meeting.View Details
